Heckpoint update: Killstreaks, Bosses, and Tweaks

So we’ve been adding and tweaking, and with some suggestions from the community, we’ve managed to knock out some functions for when bosses join the fight. There’s also killstreak awards and a new level! For more info, check out the Steam page update here.

The new boss, an enhanced version of the mini-boss, is based upon one of my favorite modern-day surrealists, Jon Konrath.

Update #3: PARTY TIME

So we’ve managed to start chipping away at one of the biggest milestones we planned for the game… local co-op couch multiplayer! Right now it’s only usable through a perk called Party Time. You can now plug in up to 4 Xbox controllers and bring your friends into the battle with you. At the moment with this perk, additional players spawn into the world with random characters and they can’t control their own load-outs but bear with us as we polish and push the full version of multiplayer into reality.  Check out the Steam page below for more info!

Heckpoint Update #2: 360 degree aiming, shoulder cannon, enhanced flight control and more.

Players, take a look in your locker. You’ll find a shoulder cannon that will let you switch to 360 degree aiming once equipped. Leave the classic firing behind if you choose and take aim. Gaining better control of flight, reducing the amount of cost of thrust while in midair, and an optional flight button on Left Trigger (for the controller) for smoother handling while using twin sticks to wreak havoc. Some specials can now be aimed too!

Various little things have been fixed as well. Beatrice’s special was not colliding with flying enemies, but it is now. Dracula and Beatrice, two of the most OP characters in the starting roster have had their special recharge lengthened as well.  As always, thanks for joining us and please let us know of any bugs or suggestions you have for the game.

Heckpoint Update: Week #1

So we started getting reviews in for Heckpoint from the Steam community, and one guy in particular has been a huge help. EElectric Productions from Youtube had some wonderful suggestions and we managed to get most of them in the first couple days. First off, a difficulty slider in the Options menu at the start screen allows player to take their game from Easy to Hopeless, each mode increasing enemy health and damage while also increasing loot drop. Next, we added another play mode when players are selecting their play style at the portals at Headquarters. This new mode, Normal, gives players a more relaxed play-through and removes those pesky flying enemies. We’ve also added the ability to turn off screenshake from the options menu at the start screen and we’re currently testing out a new weapons platform for the game that will allow you to fire at 360 degrees. More on that soon!

And if reading isn’t your thing, check out the video where Greg and I talk shit and go over some of these updates and walk you through some of the features you may have not known about.
